breathing under water

claire : uh.. even if things were different, im not really into the whole relationship thing right now..

alex: hmm...

claire: just seems like everyone that gets married, gets a divorce.

alex: okay. i think its more like half of all marriages get a divorce or smth.

claire: yeah, but who knows how happy the other half is.

alex: dunno. i still think its worth it.

claire: why?

alex: for moments like these. the way when someone gets you when no one else does.
its definately worth it.

-Season 3, episode 18 of heroes

**

my view on marriage used to be very fairytale-ish,

y'noe, guy comes along-sweep you off your feet-happy ending sort of thing.

probably disney's fault.

as i got older, and perhaps more cynical, i adopted claire's view.

but certain events during the past week...

have had me going all in for alex's.

:D

Heroes rocks doesn't it? ;) Unfortunately.. Alex needs to run. The thing about relationships is: try to keep your expectations low. So if good things happen you get a surprise, and if not, you get to live a normal life. Cheers

the economics of happiness states that happiness is the quotient of reality over expectation..
and if u turn it around..
quotient of expectation over reality is 'hope'
unless...
when ur expectation is zero..
as reality over zero would be..undefined..
so u'd have nothing.

thats math and emotions for you aidan. from jodi picoult. lol

Actually, mathematicians concur that "undefined" is technically infinity. So you would actually have infinite hope. Did Jodi Picoult pass Year 12 math?
